Crash diets promote quick weight loss with some major changes in your calorie and nutrition intake. These may sound quite tempting and easiest ways to lose weight but they might effect your overall health. These might give you quick results but they won’t last for too long with some side effects too. To lose weight healthier way it’s advised to follow a healthy and well-balanced diet with some physical activity. There are multiple crash diets that have sprung up recently and the most popular ones are  Atkins diet ,  Zone diet, Keto diet,  Paleo diet, detox diet, and liquid diet etc.

The idea of crash dieting is the first thing that comes to our minds when we think of losing a few extra kilos. But, no matter how short-cut of a matter it sounds, it also has some glaring side-effects on our bodies.

Most fad diets are deprived of essential vitamins and minerals that support the functioning of the immune system. A weak immune system can put you at a higher risk of potential diseases including hepatitis, lung infection, kidney infection. Immunity greatly depends on what and how we eat. Hence, going on crash diets means not giving the body certain calories or nutrients, which could become reasons for a compromised immunity.

Crash diets make severe changes to your eating habits. These may contribute to an eating disorder as well. Eating disorder is a kind of mental disorder, in which a person sometimes eats more than necessary, sometimes eats very rarely. These diets make you constantly think about eating less and sometimes you feel too hungry that you end up consuming more calories than required.

Following a crash diet can contribute to several factors that can negatively affect your heart health. It may affect your blood pressure, cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels that can harm your heart health.

Irregular meals and consumption of too less calories can trigger day to day health issues. You may experience frequent headaches, constant fatigue, nausea and dehydration.

Too less calories can also cause digestive issues. Lack of fibre can cause constipation and irritable bowel syndrome too. In crash diet sometimes consumption  of too much fibre in form of salad causes bloating which in turns causes acidity.

Insufficient calorie intake can make you feel tired all the time. You may not have enough energy to complete day to day tasks efficiently.

Losing weight is best achieved by following a calorie deficit balanced diet, where calories are lost by burning more calories than is consumed. Choosing whole foods and fibre-rich foods and exercising adequately with a positive mental attitude will help to improve fitness and achieve ideal body weight. Again, losing weight should not be the goal; instead, weight loss should be the side effect of following a healthy lifestyle.
